What is the SANYA PASS?
SANYA PASS is a city pass designed specifically to facilitate entry and travel for international visitors to Sanya. It includes transportation benefits (SANYA PASS main card), connectivity benefits (SIM card / eSIM), and hotel benefits. Holders can enjoy unlimited rides on all public bus routes in Sanya and three designated tourist routes, use included data traffic to access common apps such as Google, WhatsApp, and WeChat, and enjoy dining, leisure, and service benefits worth up to RMB 1,000.
Who is eligible to purchase SANYA PASS? How can it be purchased?
SANYA PASS is designed for international travelers visiting Sanya. Anyone holding a valid non-Chinese passport may purchase it through designated sales channels.
How is the validity period of SANYA PASS calculated?
Transportation benefits are activated upon the first bus tap and take effect immediately. Connectivity benefits begin once the SIM card is inserted and connected to the network or once the eSIM is activated. The 7-day pass must be used on consecutive days. Please refer to the detailed instructions below for specific activation and validity rules.
What happens when my SANYA PASS expires?
Once expired, all benefits and services associated with the SANYA PASS will automatically terminate.
Can I get a refund if I haven’t used my SANYA PASS?
No. Once purchased, SANYA PASS is non-refundable.
Can I still activate and use SANYA PASS after the latest activation date?
No. SANYA PASS cannot be activated after the latest activation date. We recommend planning the activation and usage time in advance according to your itinerary.
Can SANYA PASS be reissued if lost?
No. SANYA PASS is an anonymous prepaid card and cannot be reported lost or reissued. Please keep it safe after purchase. Lost cards cannot be replaced.
Can I keep SANYA PASS as a souvenir?
Of course! SANYA PASS features exclusive designs for foreign tourists visiting Sanya. After use or expiration, it cannot be used again. You can keep it as a unique souvenir of your trip to Sanya!
Can I take a bus directly after receiving the SANYA PASS main card?
Yes. Transportation benefits are preloaded on the card. Simply tap the card when boarding the bus.
What should I do if the card does not respond when tapped?
Please check whether the card is within its validity period or physically damaged. If the issue persists, email service@sanyapass.com with the card number, usage time, and a video showing the issue.
Does “Activate to enjoy RMB 50 credit” mean I can only ride buses worth RMB 50?
The card includes RMB 50 in transportation credit for convenience. If you reach the cap during the validity period, you may visit a designated service point for reactivation to continue using it.
How is the transportation validity calculated? Does travel on the activation day count?
① If activated before 12:00 on the activation day, the validity period starts on that day (e.g., activated at 11:59 on June 1st, the seven-day card is valid until 23:59 on June 7th).
② If activated after 12:00 on the activation day, the validity period starts on the next day (e.g., activated at 12:01 on June 1st, the seven-day card is valid until 23:59 on June 8th. The validity on the activation day is complimentary).
Which routes are supported?
All public bus routes in Sanya (including the tram system) and three tourist routes to Qixianling Hot Spring National Forest Park, Fenjiezhou Island, and Nanwan Monkey Island.
How should I tap on distance-based bus routes? What if I forget?
Please tap both when boarding and alighting. Failure to tap when exiting may result in temporary card suspension, affecting subsequent travel.
Can the card be used for taxis, ferries, or sightseeing buses?
No. It is currently valid only for public buses within Sanya and does not include taxis, ride-hailing services, or ferries.
Can the transportation benefit be shared by multiple people?
No. Each card is for single-user use only. Misuse may result in card suspension.
Where can the data card be used?
The data card provides network coverage in all areas within China.
How do I activate the data card? Do I need to visit a counter?
No counter visit is required. Insert the physical SIM card or activate the eSIM to start using it.
How is the data validity calculated?
Timing starts after the card is inserted and connects to the network or after the eSIM connects to the network. Every 24-hour period after activation counts as one day.
Can I activate the data card in advance?
For your convenience, it is recommended to activate it after arriving in Sanya.
What should I do if I cannot access the internet?
Check validity and physical condition first. If the issue persists, email service@sanyapass.com while connected to Wi-Fi or another network.
Can I change the data plan after activation?
No. The plan is fixed at purchase and cannot be changed or upgraded.
Can I renew the data plan after it's used up?
No. Benefits are one-time or time-limited and cannot be renewed or stacked.
Does eSIM require a compatible phone model?
Yes. eSIM is supported only on compatible devices. If your phone does not support eSIM, please choose a physical SIM card.
How do I use the hotel benefits?
Present your SANYA PASS main card at partner hotels to receive or purchase related benefits. Payment methods are subject to hotel policies.
Will the hotel benefits change?
Yes. Benefits may vary due to seasonality, pricing, or availability. Final interpretation rights belong to the partner hotels.
